Orthostatic hypotension: definition and clinical relevance

Orthostatic hypotension is defined as an excessive drop in blood pressure when standing and can lead to symptoms such as dizziness or syncope. It occurs frequently in older people and can considerably impair quality of life. Early diagnosis and appropriate therapeutic measures are decisive in reducing the risk of falls and injuries.
